How can CrossFit 204 athletes sign up to participate?
Email email@example.com by Jan. 9 and let her know you want to compete. Space is limited, so spots will be first come, first served, and preference will be given to athletes who did not get into FrostFit. Email early if interested!
Do I have to sign up with a team?
No. The 204 coaching staff will be creating our teams. See below.
How will 204 teams be created?
204 teams will be created on a first-come-first-served basis, but ensuring teams are “complete” will also be a factor, meaning that the team of four will have a complete set of skills as a group even if some athletes cannot perform all CrossFit movements (see below). We will not be “stacking” teams. Our goal is to create the best competitive experience for all athletes.
Do I have to be able to do everything RX’d and lift regional-level weights to compete?
No. Teams will be created so that each has a complete set of skills. For example, we will make sure one person on the team has gymnastics skills if the others don’t.
How much will it cost?
No more than $50 + GST per person. More details to come.
How do other gyms register?
We will be opening registration to local Crossfit gyms the week of Jan. 14. Specific dates, times and details will be posted as well as emailed directly to gym owners. Registration will be open to out-of-province gyms only if space is still available. We love the out-of-town crew and would love to see you, but we want to make sure we have enough space for the local community first.
How should other gyms form teams?
We recommend the coaches at affiliates create their teams. Movements will not be released before registration, but coaches are advised to ensure their teams do not have glaring weaknesses across all members. For instance, it would be a mistake to form a team on which no members can do pull-ups.
How can I volunteer for the event?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know what you’d be comfortable doing. The competition will run from about 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and various roles include judging (experience necessary), equipment set-up, scoring, general assistance and so on.
