I love the GSD lane.
That’s what I call the lane third from the right on Portage Avenue. It’s the lane you take when you need to get stuff done.
You’ve got the right curb lane when you’re getting off Portage.
The lane next to that is OK, but it’s always full of busses pulling around parked cars and people looking for side streets.
The left curb lane is always full of people making U-turns or waiting to make a left turn across a break in traffic.
The GSD lane has one direction only: Straight ahead at speed.
You don’t even think about turning from that lane. It’s purely there to move traffic. When you’re in that lane, you cruise and don’t even need to look at a map.
When you’re nearing your destination, you signal out and move to the curb lanes to do your business—but the GSD lane got you where you need to go.
I like to think of our gym as the GSD lane to health and fitness.
We Go in One Direction, and We Go Fast
At 204, we have one direction: forward toward success.
Whenever you’re in the gym, or whenever you’re working on your nutrition outside of it, you’re locked into the GSD lane with your foot on the gas. You are getting stuff done. You probably do that at your job, too. GSD people usually do everything the same way.
We put a lot of thought into our facility and its programs. We didn’t open a 24-hour drop-in gym or a place where an attendant tosses you a towel and then tunes out.
Instead, we opened a place that offers coaching—in a group, one on one, or with a nutritionist.
Because we know that it’s the fastest way to get results.
Crystal and I both worked in a traditional gym. Unless you’re a self-taught fitness and nutrition expert, a traditional gym is the curb lane. You might get to your destination eventually, but you’re going to get stuck behind a lot of parked cars, and it will take a long time. You might even miss a turn and never find the road again.
No one is telling you where to turn, and no one is going to help you change that flat tire. If you get stuck in the snow, you’re on your own.
At 204, we guide you into the fast track and then we help you get up to speed fast. We watch for potholes, tell you when to speed up, when to slow down, and when to refuel. We’re watching for people who are trying to cut you off, and we’ll take the wheel if you need a quick nap. We’ll regularly check your moving parts and make sure they’re running properly.
We’re your co-pilot, navigator and on-board mechanic as you push toward your destination.
